Keeping Love Alive

An UWS neighborhood legend, Theo Dixon, 95,  spends his day sitting on a bench outside the Muffins Café on Columbus and West 70th Street.  He always greets everyone with a smile, and even knows the name of every single dog and child that passes by.
"I'm here as an open-minded, free thinking American patriot to keep love alive," says Dixon.  A World War II Vet that gave up attending college to fight for our country continues to inspire a community; he lives with no anger or regret about his treatment as a solider, as a man of color coming back from the war with limited opportunity a perpetual optimist. Dixon message to love one another and resonates with everyone he meets.
